Alberton Methodist Church formed AMCARE (Alberton Methodist Care and Relief Enterprise) as its specialized NGO a number of years ago in order for the church to intentionally become more viable to the various welfare and related needs in our community.

A few months ago, our Justice and Service desk was approached by Alberton Child Welfare with the possibility of AMCARE creating a Temporary Place of Safety on our premises for children of abused homes awaiting placement into foster care. Currently the welfare system cannot cope with the demand that they are facing and we, as a church, felt compelled to do all we can to help alleviate this situation.

The Moses & Miriam House was launched in August 2026.  In Exodus 2, Moses as a baby was needing to be placed away from his biological family for his safety.  Under the watchful eye of his sister Miriam, he was placed on the Nile River and found by Pharaoh’s daughter.

The Moses and Miriam House stands to find those children in need, pull them from the river, and care for them until they are permanently placed in a loving home.
